Christmas Dinner Information
The December meeting of the BCARC will be held one week earlier than our normal 2nd Tuesday. As we have done in the past, we have moved our meeting to the first Tuesday of the month in order to lessen the impact on work or family holiday gatherings. This makes it easier for our members to be able to attend our event without having to give up going to other holiday activities that take place later in the month.
Our December meeting will take place at 6:00 PM at the Branch County Memorial Airport meeting room. We start early in order to squeeze in dinner and our world-famous gift exchange.
It is not required that you partake in dinner with us in order to be there for the gift exchange/meeting. The arrival time suggested that anyone not planning to eat dinner with us is 7:00 PM. We should have dinner wrapped up by then and will get to the gift exchange shortly thereafter.
For those who would like to have dinner with us, the cost this year is $22.00 per person. The menu is as follows:
- 2 Meats (Dilly Beef and Garlic Creamed Chicken)
- Tossed Salad
- A Potato Dish
- Veggie
- Rolls and butter
- Tea and Lemonade
- Dessert
All dishes, silverware, cups, and napkins will be provided.
Reservations for dinner are required and we need that information no later than December 1. You can RSVP to Ted Hadfield at hadfieldtj@gmail.com.
Payment can be handled in one of two methods:
For your convenience, you can pay via PayPal at the bottom of this page or on our home page. This payment needs to be made no later than December 1, as payments and reservations are the final determining factor when advising our caterer how much food to prepare,
You can pay by cash or check the evening of the dinner, but you MUST RSVP in advance. We need to know if you are planning to attend no later than Dec 1. If you advise us that you will pay at the meeting and we make appropriate arrangements with the caterer to provide food for you, you will still be responsible for paying for your food if you are unable to attend.
For gift exchange information, see the document on the website. We look forward to seeing you on Dec 5.

Christmas Pary Gift Exchange Rules
The gift exchange is open to all members and guests.
In order to receive a gift, one must bring a gift.
Gifts should be useful items that have a value of $10 or more,
A gift can come from your junk box or can be purchased and should be radio or computer-related.
Gifts should be wrapped in Christmas paper and need not have a “to” or “from” tag, label, or other identification on them. Be sure to remember which gift(s) you brought so that you do not inadvertently select your own gift! (Yes, this has happened previously…)
If your spouse, significant other, or child is in attendance and brings a gift, that can maximize your “take” from the exchange and may enable you to take home that “prize gift” that everyone covets. Those who bring gifts will be asked to draw a number, which will determine the order of gift selection and opening. The gift opening will proceed as follows:
Number 1 looks over all of the gifts on the table and chooses one (usually after making a bit of a show while hefting various gifts and giving them a shake or two). Once a gift is selected, the gift will be unwrapped and MUST be shown to the group.
Number 2 can choose a gift from the table, or they can take Number 1’s gift if they think that it is more desirable than what could be found amongst the unopened gifts. If Number 2 takes the gift from Number 1, then Number 1 goes back to the table and the process starts all over again. Any time that a gift is first unwrapped, it MUST be shown to everyone.
Number 3 can choose from a gift from the table, or they can take the gift from Number 1 or 2 using the same procedures above.
This procedure is followed until the final person selects the last gift from the table. The third owner of the gift gets to keep it. An individual cannot retake a gift that was taken from him/her.
Gifts must be able to be carried in by one person. Gifts cannot consist of Spouses, Children, or pets. Any participant bringing a gift that makes ticking noises, leaks suspicious fluids, or emits noxious vapors will be immediately subject to intense scrutiny by the Club Sergeant at Arms.
After all gifts have been opened, it is acceptable to trade your gift to anyone willing to trade with you. Be creative in the selection and packaging of your gift. This event is intended to be fun, so feel free to “ham it up” a bit to add some humor to the evening. Walk around and look at everything….even those items that you have no intention of taking. Do what you can to “fake out” the crowd and when the time comes, pounce on that treasure!
Please feel free to take lots of pictures to share with the newsletter editor.
